DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
The Armada Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was established in 2001. The DDA board created a development plan which included a two phase action plan. Phase one has been completed with the Armada Village Council using Community Development Block Grant funds (CDBG) to install new street lighting throughout the Downtown business district in 2006 and the DDA completed their portion on the project in 2007 with the removal of poles and overhead wires, installation of a downtown public address system, sidewalks, road way, parking space and bump outs for safe pedestrian crossing. This project also assisted in making most of the downtown businesses ADA accessible and the new road way eliminated the standing water issue.
The DDA also worked on a portion of phase two of the development plan which coincided with the North Fulton reconstruction project and was completed in 2010/2011. The DDA is committed to maximizing the potential for growth in the business district and protecting the rural history of our community as a whole.
